  • Meet this week’s student spotlight, Annika Poet! Annika is a sophomore from Redmond, Oregon majoring in biology with a career goal of becoming a veterinarian. On campus, she is the president of the Art Club, is the Student Programs Coordinator helping put on Beacon Nights, and is a writing tutor in the tutoring program for her work study position.

Annika is a part of the Song Nai Rhee Honors Program for her major. For this, she has completed ACE Day presentations for biology, physics, and environmental science. For one presentation, she created a human representation of a hip and knee joint to show the movements that relate to physics concepts. Annika is also a part of the Independent Research Program where she gets to do complex labs and experiments.

Annika’s favorite part about her major is the attentive professors. “I feel like they really know what they're talking about, and they're not just teaching to teach it," says Annika. "They are excited about the things that they're talking about. They've done projects on these subjects, and they know them in and out, and they're just excited to share that knowledge with you.”
