Campus Counseling Center
Bushnell University’s Counseling Center is open to everyone and offers low-cost, confidential counseling to adults in the community. Sessions are provided by graduate students working towards a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Counselors work under the supervision of clinically experienced faculty.

Confidentiality
Your counseling is confidential—which means that the things you discuss with your counselor are private and protected by Oregon state law. Except under the circumstances described below, your counselor will not share any information about you unless you give written permission to do so. Written permission is given in a signed document called a Release of Information.
Your counselor undergoes regular clinical supervision as a graduate student at Bushnell University. Therefore, chart notes, session recordings, and other documentation will be reviewed by a clinical supervisor in both individual and group supervision settings. (These settings are for current counseling program graduate students and their supervisors only.)
There are some circumstances in which a counselor must share information. These circumstances are unusual, but they do happen. These circumstances are defined by Oregon State law and include the following:
If your counselor learns of a specific intent to harm yourself or another person or to commit an act of violence, it is the counselor’s responsibility to protect you and others. The counselor will inform a family member, an intended victim, or law enforcement as appropriate.
If your counselor learns that harm or abuse has been done to a child (age 17 and under), an elderly person, a disabled person, or a mentally ill person, the counselor will make a mandatory report to the appropriate authorities.
If your counselor is subpoenaed or court-ordered to testify in court or to submit records, she or he may have to give information about you without your permission. Should that situation arise, your counselor will make an effort to contact you.
Please discuss any concerns about your privacy with your counselor at any time that a concern related to your privacy comes up for you.
Privacy also is an important issue when children, partners, or spouses are involved in counseling. When a person under the age of 18 is in counseling, it is important to respect the need for that person’s privacy while also recognizing that parents (or guardians) have a right to know certain information about their children. Similarly, when both members of a couple are involved in counseling, it is important to balance the need for individual privacy with the need for open communication. If your child is in counseling, or if you and your partner are seeking couples counseling, please discuss concerns regarding privacy with your counselor as soon as possible.

Health CARE
At Bushnell University, the health and well-being of our students is of the utmost importance. The Office of Student Life collects immunization records in compliance with Oregon law and offers assistance to students seeking medical services in the community.
Bushnell University does not provide health insurance coverage. Undergraduates enrolled in 12 or more credit hours are required to provide proof of insurance in order to attend Bushnell University; however, it is up to the student to find a health insurance provider.
