Bushnell University is proud to announce the receival of a $1 million Healthcare Workforce Ready Grant from the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) under the Future Ready Oregon initiative. This grant, part of a competitive statewide effort to bolster healthcare workforce development in collaboration with PeaceHealth Oregon and Lane Workforce Partnership, supports the groundbreaking "Paving a Pathway to Practice" grant, which aims to address Oregon’s critical nursing shortage by training and retaining nurses in rural and underserved areas. For Bushnell nursing students, the grant provides for nursing-specific scholarships while also funding available academic support services. Additionally, the grant supports new wrap-around services for these students through Lane Workforce Partnership. For new graduates and early career nurses who work in the PeaceHealth Oregon network, the grant funds a new nurse mentorship program. Comprehensively, the grant removes financial and logistical barriers to training and retention, ensuring nurses are prepared and supported throughout their education and early practice. Meet Savannah Tomlinson! Savannah is a Junior from Bemidji, Minnesota majoring in digital marketing and graphic design. Around campus, Savannah is an RA for the second floor in Womack hall, and works in the Beacon Beanery at night as well! A few fun things Savannah enjoys doing are photography, video editing, drawing, painting, singing, and hanging out with friends. Savannah loves the nature and environment of Bushnell's campus and its tight knit community, as well as its close proximity to the University of Oregon. For students at Bushnell, Savannah says, "my advice for new and current students is to not be afraid to try new things, college is a great time to dive into new hobbies or expand on current interests."

Meet Blossom Robinson! 💡 Blossom is a freshman from Cave Junction, Oregon with an undeclared major. On campus, Blossom is part of the track and field team as a sprinter. A few fun facts about Blossom is that she is a wild-land firefighter, writes music, loves to draw, and is also a first generation college student. Blossom's favorite part about attending Bushnell is the support given to the students and the community it creates. "The advice I would give to my peers and incoming students is don't be embarrassed or scared to ask for help. There are so many things put in place to help you succeed; so, if you feel like you're lacking in an area or are confused about something, just ask and get the help you need to do your best."
