Bushnell Nursing Scholarships
Discover scholarship opportunities for Bushnell University’s Nursing programs, including both the RN to BSN and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) tracks.
Through charitable gifts Bushnell University has partnered with generous donors to establish a variety of scholarship funds. The Helen Stafford Walsh and Freeman Nursing Scholarships have been made to support students in their call to service through the profession of nursing. Both current and incoming RN-BSN and ABSN students can apply online each year for awards from these endowed nursing scholarships.
Helen Stafford Walsh Nursing Scholarship
OVERVIEW
The Helen Stafford Walsh Nursing Scholarship has been established to help students who are preparing for careers in nursing. Helen Stafford Walsh was proud to be a Registered Nurse. Her family established this award to honor her commitment to nursing, her long career in the profession, and the nurse-friends she made along the way. Education was important to her. Through the funding of this award, Helen would be pleased that her hard work now supports a colleague continuing their nursing education. One scholarship for $500 will be awarded for the academic year.
eligibility
To be considered for the Helen Stafford Walsh Scholarship, a student must:
- Currently be enrolled at least part-time in Bushnell’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN or ABSN).
- Must have completed credits in the BSN program and a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or greater.
- Must not be a current recipient of the Bushnell employee tuition benefit program.
Eligibility preferances
A candidate may be given preference for the scholarship award if they meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated passion, experience, or desire for/to pursue a career in geriatric or psychiatric nursing i.e. work or volunteer experience in these areas, member/active in a geriatric or psych nursing organization, geriatric or psych continuing education or conference attendance, completed end of life training such as ELNEC, etc.
- Member of the Roman Catholic Church.

All applicants meeting the January 31st deadline will be notified in February of final decisions. This is a one-time scholarship. Students meeting eligibility requirements are eligible to reapply each year.

Freeman Nursing Scholarship
OVERVIEW
The Freeman Scholarship for Nursing has been established to help students who are preparing for careers in nursing. This endowed scholarship was established by Justin and Dr. Jennifer Freeman in January 2024 based on their commitment to support students in their call to service through the profession of nursing. One scholarship for $5,000 will be awarded for the Spring 2025 Semester.

To be considered for the Freeman Scholarship for Nursing, a student must:
- Currently be accepted to or enrolled in Bushnell’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN or ABSN) program.
- Must not be a current recipient of the Bushnell employee tuition benefit program.
Eligibility preferances
A candidate may be given preference for the scholarship award if they meet the following criteria:
- First priority is given to students enrolled in the Accelerated BSN program.
- Preference for students with a proven prior record of exemplary academic achievement.
- Preference for a current student of or a prior graduate of Bushnell University.
- Preference may be given to a student with financial need as a deciding factor.
