Serving Alaskans from the Sky

EUGENE, Ore. – Matthew Kuhns ‘06 graduated from Bushnell University with a degree in Bible and Christian Ministry and a minor in Psychology. During his senior year, he served as the student body president, showcasing his leadership skills early on. Today, Kuhns is making a significant impact in a unique and vital role as a critical care nurse for LifeMed Alaska, an air ambulance service. 

Based in Fairbanks, Kuhn’s dedication to his fellow Alaskans is evident in his adventurous spirit and commitment to providing critical care in some of the most remote and challenging locations. His journey began with a call to service inspired by his family’s legacy in emergency medical services. After graduating from Bushnell University, Matthew pivoted to nursing, obtaining his nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania. 

Kuhn’s work involves flying at 350 mph in harsh conditions to reach patients in need. His story, featured in an article by the American Heart Association, highlights his resilience and the critical role of medevacs in bridging the gap in healthcare access for rural communities.
