Dr. Erin Mueller began at Bushnell in 2022, and she teaches various courses within the Psychology major from General Psychology to Senior Capstone. Dr. Mueller serves as the Director for both the Psychology Program and the Song Nai Rhee Honors Program. She is a native Iowan and completed her BA in Psychology and French in 1992 at the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Mueller then pursued her clinical psychology PhD at Brigham Young University with an emphasis in neuropsychology. She completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in neurology and a residency in medical psychology at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Mueller has been licensed by the State of Oregon as a psychologist since 1999, and she practiced in a variety of settings for ten years before entering academia. Her clinical work focused on helping children and families with various developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. This experience, combined with her research training, has prepared Dr. Mueller well to infuse her courses with real life applications of psychology.
Dr. Mueller has taught full-time since 2007 when she began at Concordia University, Portland. There she helped grow the major, developed new courses, established a Psi Chi chapter, served as department chair, and implemented a Master’s program in community psychology. A favorite endeavor has been developing study abroad programs to South Africa, Ireland, and France. Additionally, she served as the honors program director, and in 2009 she was honored with the Dean’s award for service to students. Dr. Mueller ventured back to the Midwest for a year of teaching at Northwestern College, and she is delighted to be back in Oregon and at Bushnell University where she strives to inspire students to marvel at the human family while they seek out their vocations.
