MAT Courses and Clinical Practice

Curriculum Overview

Bushnell University’s Master of Arts in Teaching curriculum combines graduate coursework, supervised clinical experiences, and faculty mentorship to prepare you for Oregon teacher licensure. Throughout the program, you’ll develop the instructional knowledge, classroom leadership, assessment skills, and professional confidence needed to teach diverse learners in elementary or secondary classrooms.

Students complete coursework aligned with Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) requirements while applying their learning through progressively intensive field experiences and full-time student teaching.

Clinical Practice & Student Teaching

Clinical experiences are woven throughout the Master of Arts in Teaching program. You’ll complete approximately 240 hours of supervised clinical practice before progressing to 600 hours of full-time student teaching, where you’ll gradually assume responsibility for planning instruction, leading classrooms, assessing student learning, and collaborating with mentor teachers.

Supported by experienced educators and Bushnell faculty, these hands-on experiences prepare you to meet Oregon teacher licensure requirements and confidently transition into your own classroom.

Endorsements

Each endorsement requires additional coursework. In order to be certified and recommended to the state by the school for licensure with an endorsement, students must take the required coursework listed for their respective endorsement area(s) or work with their faculty advisors to map out an approved alternative academic plan. Check each course for prerequisites.
