Dr. Jonathan Alfson teaches physics and mathematics courses. With a background in physics education research (PER), his research interests are focused on how students think and learn using external representations, with a particular attention to the coordination of multiple external representations.
Dr. Alfson loves seeing students work together to successfully solve challenging problems. He facilitates a classroom environment where students learn through direct practice, believing that problem-solving skills are best learned through solving problems in a supportive setting.
In his leisure time, Jonathan likes to swim, hike, and backpack.
