Cook Competes at NAIA National Championship

RESULTS | MARION, Ind.  – Senior Kaitlin Cook closed out her collegiate track & field career on Wednesday evening, running in the 3000m Steeplechase preliminary heat at the NAIA National Championships, taking place at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Cook held true to her national seed coming into the race, taking 19th place as she finished tenth in the second heat with a time of 11:38.80. The top five from each heat qualified automatically for the final, with the next two from each also garnering the final four at-large spots.

Four athletes from the Cascade Collegiate Conference qualified for the finals.

For Cook, her Bushnell athletic career is not finished as she plans to return this fall to use her final season of eligibility with the Cross Country program.

Schexnayder Takes 10th at NAIA Championship

RESULTS | MARION, Ind.  – Freshman Jermaine Schexnayder put a little icing on the cake of his incredible debut campaign on Friday, taking tenth-place in the Triple Jump at the NAIA National Championships, taking place at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Schexnayder’s first jump was the best of his young career, hitting 14.98 meters (49’2″) to add three-and-a-half inches to his own school record set at the conference championships two weeks ago.

His tenth-place finish improves two spots on his indoor national championship finish.

Also competing at the NAIA championships for the Beacons was Kaleo Wellman in the long jump. Unfortunately, the freshman was unable to land a successful attempt.
