Bushnell Students Return to Campus Aug. 19

Bushnell University students will be among the first in Oregon to return to campus when they arrive to move into residence halls and register for fall classes on Thurs., Aug. 19, 2021.

“We have missed our returning students over the summer and look forward to welcoming new first year and transfers students to our outstanding University,” said Michael Fuller, M.S., Vice President for Enrollment and Student Development. “The 2021-2022 academic year is going to be a good one though we will all need to follow some of the same health requirements as we did the previous semesters.”

Facemasks are required to be worn by all students, visitors, faculty and staff when in University buildings, including classrooms, chapel, laboratory instruction and during participating in high-density, outdoor settings. Social distancing is not required on campus to attend classes or to participate in campus activities. It is recommended that Bushnell students, faculty and staff receive a COVID-19 vaccination before coming back to campus, but a vaccination is not required.

“We encourage students, faculty and staff to do what they believe is best to keep themselves and those they come in contact with healthy and safe from the COVID-19 virus and its variants,” Fuller said. “If a student does become ill with COVID-19 symptoms, we have kept the protocols of the past 18 months in place to support them and to keep the rest of the campus healthy.”

Fuller says campus officials will continue to actively monitor the Center for Disease Control’s and the state of Oregon’s recommendations for limiting people’s exposure to COVID-19 and it variant strains, “If necessary, we will implement more requirements as directed by local, state, and federal health authorities, but until then, students, staff, and faculty are expected to wears masks indoors, are encouraged to get vaccinated, and use their best judgment concerning the health and well-being of the campus community.”

On campus fall classes for Bushnell’s traditional undergraduates begin Mon., Aug. 23, 2021.
