Music Auditions & Scholarships

Music Audition Requirements

If you’re interested in majoring or minoring in Music at Bushnell University, you’ll complete an audition as part of the admission process. The audition allows faculty to learn more about your musical or production experience, evaluate your potential for success in the program, and determine eligibility for Music scholarships.

If you’re interested in participating in ensembles, you may also complete the audition process to be considered for performance opportunities and scholarship awards.

Audition Process

You’ll complete three simple steps:

  1. Submit the Audition Form: Before your audition, you’ll complete the Music & Performing Arts Audition Form and submit a brief personal statement (350–500 words).
    • Your statement should address:
    • Why you’re interested in studying Music
    • Why you’re considering Bushnell University
    • Your current career goals
    • Ministry or leadership experiences you’ve had
    • Previous musical, technical, or production training
  2. Complete a Personal Interview: You’ll meet with Music faculty to discuss your interests, experience, goals, and personal statement. This conversation helps us get to know you while giving you the opportunity to learn more about the program and ask questions.
  3. Complete Your Audition:
    • Worship Arts Applicants
      • You’ll prepare two selections that demonstrate your strongest musical abilities. If possible, choose pieces from different musical styles. You may also be asked to demonstrate basic sight-reading skills.
    • Production Applicants
      • If you’re pursuing the Production concentration, you’ll have the opportunity to submit a portfolio, production reel, project samples, résumé, or other examples of your technical and creative work. Faculty will discuss your experience and interests during the interview process.
