Katy Lemieux and Corey Anderson Receive Presidents’ Award

EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell University president Dr. Joseph D. Womack honored two outstanding individuals during Bushnell’s 2026 Spring Commencement for their exceptional dedication, achievements, and contributions to the university community. The Presidents’ Award for Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership and the award for Exemplary Staff and Campus Leadership are presented annually. The awards were given in collaboration with the Associated Students of Bushnell University and the Office of the President.

Nominated by faculty, staff, and students, nursing professor Katy Lemieux, MSN, RN, was awarded the Presidents’ Award for Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership, while Corey Anderson, Athletic Director, received the Presidents’ Award for Exemplary Staff Performance and Campus Leadership. 

Katy Lemieux serves as Program Director and Assistant Professor of Nursing at Bushnell University, where she is recognized for excellence in teaching, leadership, and dedication to student success. Through her work in the nursing program, she has helped cultivate an environment that challenges and supports students academically, professionally, and personally. Lemieux is known for integrating faith and learning through compassion, mentorship, and a deep commitment to preparing students for lives of service and leadership in healthcare.

“This year’s recipient of the Presidents’ Award for Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership, Katy Lemieux, exemplifies the kind of inspiring and motivating leadership and service we strive to teach our students,” says Dr. Womack. “She extends compassion, prayer, grace, and mercy when needed as evidence of her integration of faith and learning in her courses and during student meetings. Her leadership and presence have been a fortifying force, and she lovingly pushes students to their best. The wisdom and passion I will carry into my future is largely because of her.”

Corey Anderson has faithfully served Bushnell University for 20 years as Athletic Director, demonstrating exceptional leadership, character, and dedication to student development. Throughout his tenure, he has fostered an athletics program centered on mentorship, accountability, and holistic student success while advancing the university’s mission and values. Anderson is widely respected for his humility, steady leadership, and commitment to supporting students, colleagues, and the broader campus community. His leadership contributed to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics conferring upon Bushnell its highest institutional honor, the National School of Character.

“This year’s recipient of the Presidents’ Award for Exemplary Staff Performance and Campus Leadership, Corey Anderson, embodies what it means to be a Beacon,” says Dr. Womack. “He cares deeply about our students and the mission that shapes our department. He has helped shape a culture grounded in integrity, respect, and deep care for students. More than anything, he embodies what it means to be a Beacon, leading with humility, a servant heart, and a genuine commitment to the mission of Bushnell.”
